Welcome Mid-Semester, UMD!

The Chapel is open for private reflection and pre-arranged events on weekdays from 9 am - 5 pm.  Chapel office staff are delighted to speak with you via email ( or phone (301-314-9866 or 301-314-9893). Reach out to or 301-314-9893 should you wish to speak with a chaplain.     

     Veterans Day Vigil -- Wednesday, November 11, 1 - 3 pm


     Members of the Maryland Honor Guard and the Army ROTC remember fallen members of the Armed Services in a silent Vigil in front of the Chapel.              


Chat with a Chaplain -- Wednesdays at 4 pm


Reduce stress by sharing whatever is on your mind, small or large, with one of the campus chaplains. Learn mindfulness tips to help you with your studies and with whatever happens each day.  

     Labyrinth Loungng and Meditation -- Fridays from noon to 1 pm

     At the Labyrinth in the Garden of Reflection and Remembrance; Garden Chapel if inclement


     Join in a guided meditation as well as an opportunity to walk the labyrinth and journal.


Wedding and All Event Open House: Visit Memorial Chapel

Consider choosing the University of Maryland Memorial Chapel for the location of your special event! Anyone is welcome to reserve space in Memorial Chapel regardless of affiliation to the University.  Visit our wedding website ( for more information! Call 301-314-9866 and we can provide you a virtual tour. Because of COVID-19, no open house dates are currently scheduled. 

     Student Group and Department Reservations

The Memorial Chapel is a multi-faceted campus facility serving numerous on-and off- campus populations and is home to a diverse range of events and personnel. Dedicated in 1952 as a living memorial to members of the University community that gave their lives in times of war, the Memorial Chapel is the center of religious life on campus and supports all fourteen university recognized chaplaincies and their programs. In addition, it is the site for weddings, concerts, lectures, convocations, commencements and other special events throughout the year.
