Asian American & Pacific Islander Student Involvement

The AAPI Student Involvement Area focuses on student engagement on the University of Maryland campus, especially in fostering a deeper understanding of the diverse experiences and intersecting identities of Asian American and Pacific Islander students. Through social and cultural events, leadership opportunities, educational workshops, and student organization and personal advising, we offer a variety of services and programs for students to develop their personal, ethnic, and racial identities. We aim to empower students to engage in advocacy and create social change for AAPI communities and beyond.

Each year, the University publishes a commemorative calendar of events for AAPIHM, which occurs throughout April. Additionally, events are promoted campus-wide through university websites and social media. Please join in the campus-wide celebration of AAPIHM by submitting events and activities, which relate to the purpose of AAPIHM and/or your particular student organization’s/department’s mission.

AAPIHM 2018's theme is BELONGING: What does it mean to belong? Who decides where you belong? The AAPI student community would like to spend AAPIHM 2018 highlighting our feelings and experiences with creating and sharing space, and building community.

We welcome all programs and events, but are especially interested in programs that focus on the following questions:

*What does it mean to belong in the AAPI community?
*What does it mean to belong at UMD?
*What does it mean to feel represented and be part of a larger society?

The deadline for submission is Monday, March 5, 2018 by 5:00pm!
