MISSION
Our mission is topublicize events hosted in the Stamp, working in collaboration with the event creators.
HOW DO WE DO THIS?
We send out a team of about 20 students all around campus to distribute your flyers, chalk messages, and conduct surveys to spread the word about your event. Best of all, we do this at NO COST to you! That’s right, it’s FREE. However, to ensure the maximum audience possible at your event it requires a team effort of our group working withyour group to get the word on the street.

CONCEPTION
During my PRD in October 2007 Dr. Gretchen Metzelaars, Director of Stamp, mentioned all of the chalkings she observed walking back from a meeting at the Mitchell building. In the next breath she asked me why Stamp Marketing did not chalk. After recovering from the shock of this question I wondered why myself. Thus, the Stamp Street Team was born.
Overnight I began to think how else such a team could be used. I realized that in addition to chalking, surveys could be administered to students by students and flyers could be distributed to places on campus we would never reach. The next day I took out a classified ad in the Diamondback and within 10 days I had 12 students and thus began our latest marketing strategy.
I quickly realized I needed a team leader and chose Shristi Singh. The team leader concept allowed me to communicate with one person when needed and provided a buffer for student workers who might feel more comfortable sharing challenges with a peer.
By August of 2008 the ST grew to 20 students where it remains today. A new team leader was chosen. Caitlin Marshall, as the new coordinator, created a template which allows for a quicker tabulation of weekly results. We can share with our clients where messages were chalked, where flyers were given out, and the results of our five question survey.
Each Thursday at 1:00pm the ST visits my office where they pick up their bag of information. One of the few instructions given to them is to not survey, chalk, or flyer in or near Stamp. We want to spread a larger net over campus so I ask that however far from Stamp their day takes them that is where there work should be done.
This site contains all of our surveys to date, photos of some chalking done, and examples of where flyers are distributed. Many of the survey results are eye opening and should be given their due weight when making programming and marketing decisions.
