We are asking for your help in identifying potential speakers for the Voices of Social Change program. Voices of Social Change invites engaging storytellers to share their experiences as active leaders in the local community. The purpose of the program is to honor the social change work of these leaders, to connect people and resources, and to inspire people to engage in social change.
This program began in the spring 2010 semester with three sessions focused on social change in the coffee industry, in Haiti, and environmental justice with local community members. We are looking for individuals involved in social change work in our local community and the Baltimore-Washington area, and are asking for your help.
Do you have relationships with or knowledge of individuals you believe would be good at sharing their story with our students? Have you read about someone in the paper you believe has a story about social change that has benefited the Baltimore-Washington community?
If so, please email voices@umd.edu with their name, contact information (if possible), and any other information you may have about the invididual(s). Your help in identifying social change agents within our community is extremely helpful and is the most successful way for us to identify promising storytellers of social change. Each of our speakers will be provided a $500 honorarium.
Thank you very much!
