FAQs

How do I register for a Terp Service Day?

Registration for Terp Service Days (TSD) is electronic. Registration will open approximately 3 weeks before a given TSD. The     link to registration can be found on this same page. Registration is open to all UMD students. We kindly request that students       only register if they are sure they can participate for the entire day of service which lasts from 9:00am-3:30pm.

Can my group register for a Terp Service Day?

Groups are welcome to participate in a Terp Service Day (TSD). However, group members must register individually. We cannot guarantee that all members will serve at the same service site or that there will be enough spots to accommodate your group. Please review "spots remaining" on the application to see if there is enough spots to accommodate your group. Additionally, Terp Service Days are a good time for your group members to meet new people so we also suggest that members register for different sites in order to meet other students.

Are there additional opportunities for Terp Service Day participants?

TerpCorps, the student-led program that sponsor the Terp Service Days events, recognizes and engages students who commit to participating in multiple TSDs. The types of recognition and opportunities include:

First-time participant: Students will receive a Terp Service button in recognition of their participation in the TSD and involvement in the Terp Service community.

Second-time participant: Students will receive a Terp Service t-shirt in recognition of their ongoing commitment to service-learning and the Terp Service community. Students will also be invited to become a site leader* for a future Terp Service Day (optional).

Third-time participant: Students will receive a Terp Service canteen water bottle in recognition of their outstanding commitment to service in the greater College Park community. These students continue to have the option to become a site leader.

Fourth-time participant: If participating as a site leader, these students will receive REI site leader backpacks for their personal use and use during Terp Service Days in recognition of their serious commitment to the Terp Service community and to service-based leadership.

Can I get a report of my service hours?

All Terp Service Day participants that complete the registration form, waiver, and post-service survey, can receive electronic documentation of theirhours.  Requests for service hours reports must be made within 72 hours of the time the student needs the report. Reports are sent electronically via email.
