Become a MOSAIC Retreat CGF

Core group facilitators (CGFs) are a critical component of MOSAIC. CGFs consist of graduate students and undergraduate students.

Through participating in the retreat as a CGF, you will have the opportunity to interact with and help shape the learning of current and future campus leaders and to think about complex issues relates to diversity and leadership. Through this event, you will have an opportunity to see students learn about themselves, better understand identity and social inequality, and how to engage in socially responsible leadership within their communities.

Additional Details:

• Transportation, room and board will be provided to you

• Facilitators should expect to co-facilitate learning for a small group of 6 to 7 students.  Retreat participants will stay in their same small group throughout the retreat.

• In order to support our core-group facilitators in their role, we believe it is important that they have an understanding, knowledge, and awareness of the complexities around diversity and leadership, the social change model of leadership, and how to effectively facilitate learning for students.  As such, all CGFs must be able to attend the CGF trainings.

• Attendance at the MOSAIC kick-off on Friday, February 23 is an important beginning to the MOSAIC experience and your attendance is important to the program design.  Plus, there will be delicious food!

MOSAIC takes place all day Saturday, February 24  – Sunday, February 25, 2018.

• Facilitators are also welcomed to apply to the MOSAIC Initiative, a semester long program focused on examining how aspects of identity impact leadership for social change. We will explore strategies for creating positive change while considering the complex dynamics of addressing systems of power, privilege, and oppression.

Participants should come prepared to actively engage in dialogue by sharing views, attitudes, beliefs and experiences openly and honestly. The retreat requires an environment in which students will be able to share and express themselves freely. Participants are asked to contribute to this and agree on a mutual set of standards to help them do so. With genuine dialogue comes inherent conflict, but also the possibility of unexpected learning and enormous growth.

Participants will be engaged the following dates:

• Pre-retreat evening gathering: Friday, February 23, 2018
• MOSAIC retreat: Saturday, February 24- Sunday, February 25, 2018

There is a $25 participant fee. Students are encouraged to seek out campus sponsors to cover the cost of the participant fee. However, do not allow the fee to be a barrier.
