The Contemporary Art Purchasing Program at the University of Maryland, College Park's mission to educate and inspire by exposing the campus community to challenging art created by noted contemporary artists
It serves to provide the committee members with the opportunity to interact with the art world by researching, discussing, and purchasing the best work by emerging and established contemporary artists
PROGRAM FOR SELECTED STUDENT COMMITTEE
¤ Participants will be required to enroll in an Art Theory course during the Fall semester of the program year.
¤ During the Spring semester of the program year, student committee members must also enroll in a one credit class to prepare for their purchase trip to New York City—where they will visit galleries and artist's studios. At the conclusion of the program, the students on the committee will present their purchasing recommendations to the CAPP Advisory Board, a panel of curator's, gallerists, collectors, art historians, and artists, for final approval of the purchase of contemporary art for the Stamp Student Union Contemporary Art Collection.
