2020 Retreat Info

  • MOSAIC takes place all day and overnight Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8. Check in on campus will begin at 8:30 am on Saturday. Students will return to campus by 4:00 pm on Sunday.
  • The retreat and lodging will take place at YMCA Camp Letts in Edgewater, MD.
  • All participants will be expected to attend the pre-conference dinner on Friday, March 6 in Stamp.
  • MOSAIC is led by trained student and staff facilitators responsible for leading smaller core groups throughout the weekend.

WHAT IS MOSAIC?

MOSAIC Leadership and Identity Retreat is a two day experience focused on raising self-awareness, expanding knowledge, and encouraging action among diverse student leaders. Dynamic simulations and group discussions create an environment for individuals to examine their identity and how it influences their understanding of and approach to leadership.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND MOSAIC?

  • All UMD students, undergraduate and graduate

  • Students interested in topics of leadership and identity

  • Students of all backgrounds, experience levels, and affiliations

  • Students willing to engage in personal reflection, group dialogue, and open consideration of diverse viewpoints and perspectives

WHAT IS EXPECTED OUT OF ME?

  • Active engagement in personal reflection, listening, small group conversation, and large group activities
  • Challenging questions and dialogue that may be out of your comfort zone
  • Disconnecting from technology and media for a weekend
  • Two full days of program content lasting from approximately 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Saturday and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday


Participants will be engaged the following dates:
• Pre-retreat evening gathering: Friday, March 6, 2020
• MOSAIC retreat: Saturday, March 7 - Sunday, March 8, 2020

 

There is a $25 participant fee. Students are encouraged to seek out campus sponsors to cover the cost of the participant fee. However, do not allow the fee to be a barrier. Contact mdlmdlead@umd.edu if this may be the case and we will find a solution for you!
